MARLBOROUGH, Mass. – WPI takes the NEWMAC regular season crown with a 14-2 league record, also earning the top seed in the 2026 NEWMAC Men’s Basketball Championship. The NEWMAC Championship bracket consists of six teams battling for NEWMAC supremacy.
With the top seed, WPI earns the right to host a semifinal game with a first-round bye. The Engineers’
Justin Molen has produced a well-rounded season, averaging 15.3 points per game, 6.9 rebounds per game, and 4.0 assists per game. The Engineers will await the winner of the match-up between No. 4 Wheaton College (8-8) and No. 5 Springfield College (8-8) on Tuesday, February 24. Wheaton, who secured home court advantage by virtue of a tiebreaker, is led by
Demitri Iafrate’s 19.3 points per game, which is good for second in the league. He also leads the NEWMAC with 2.8 steals per game. Springfield’s
Josiah Evely chips in 10.4 points per contest to lead the Pride.
Babson College (13-3) secured the second seed and a first-round bye. Babson’s
Timmy O’Toole is a force on the boards, leading the NEWMAC with 8.7 rebounds per game. The Beavers will await the winner of the No. 6 Clark University (7-9) and No. 3 Salve Regina University (11-5) battle, which takes place on Tuesday, February 24. Salve’s
Jack Margoupis leads the league with 20.2 points per game. Clark’s
Quentin Pridgen is the league’s top distributor, averaging 5.7 assists per game.
Semifinal matchups will take place on Thursday, February 26, at 7:00 p.m. On Saturday, February 28, the winners of each semifinal will compete in the NEWMAC Championship game.
Tickets for NEWMAC championship events can be purchased through the NEWMAC
box office. The NEWMAC encourages fans to purchase their mobile tickets in advance of the event to streamline the entry process on game day. Spectators may purchase mobile tickets on site, but no cash option will be available. Ticket prices are $10 for general admission. Children under 12 and NEWMAC students with a valid institutional ID are free and do not need to purchase a mobile ticket. Once a matchup is confirmed following each round of the championship, the tickets will become available.
