NEWMAC Announces Athlete of the Week Honorees (week ending November 23)

Marlborough, Mass.- The NEWMAC has announced its Athlete of the Week honorees for the week ending 11/23/25, presented by SKYBOKX 109.  The full list of honorees can be found below.
 
Men’s Basketball
 
Offensive Athlete of the Week- Isaac Dobie (Jr., G), MIT
 
Junior Isaac Dobie (Kitty Hawk, N.C.) found his rhythm during the second week of the regular season, topping the 20-point plateau in three consecutive road contests, including a 32-point effort in an MIT win at Framingham State. Dobie opened the week with 23 points and nine rebounds, four offensive, in a 73-68 win at Salem State on Tuesday. He followed by shooting 11-of-15 from the floor and 6-of-8 from three while adding two assists in an 83-67 win over Framingham State on Thursday. The next night, Dobie dropped another 23 points, shooting 7-of-10 from field goal range and 2-for-2 from distance as the Engineers were stunned by a half-court buzzer beater at Fitchburg State, 75-72.
 
Defensive Athlete of the Week- Boluwasefe John (So., F), Clark University
 
Sophomore Boluwasefe John (Corona, N.Y.) helped guide Clark to a 2-0 record as he averaged 12.5 points, 7.0 rebounds, 2.5 blocks, and 1.5 steals this week. In Tuesday's 74-69 victory over St. Joe's (Me.), John nearly tallied a double-double with 12 points and nine rebounds, while adding three blocks and two steals. At Western Connecticut State, the sophomore registered 13 points, five rebounds, two blocks, and a steal in a 76-75 victory.
 
Women’s Basketball
 
Offensive Athlete of the Week- Emily Flynn (Gr., F), Babson College  
 
Graduate student Emily Flynn (Hanover, Mass.) averaged 18.5 points and 6.0 assists while shooting 45.2 percent from the floor and 42.1 percent from three-point range over two games. She scored a career-high 21 points to go along with nine rebounds in a 67-63 loss to Tufts on Tuesday before recording the first triple-double of her career with 16 points, 12 rebounds, and a career-best 10 assists in Saturday’s 74-50 victory over Albertus Magnus on Saturday. The triple-double was just the third in Division III this season and the Beavers’ first since January 2011. 
 
Defensive Athlete of the Week- Claire English (Jr., F/C), Emerson College
 
Junior Claire English (Winchester, Mass.) pulled down a team-best 14.5 rebounds per game, including 7.5 per game at the defensive end, and averaged a team-high 2.5 blocks and 2.0 steals per game over the Lions' two games at UMass Dartmouth's Lafrance Hospitality Tournament this weekend. She averaged a double-double for the weekend, contributing 17.5 points per game, but led a Lions defensive effort that limited their two opponents to a combined 36.2 percent shooting, including 26.3% from three. English posted her first double-double of the season against UMass Dartmouth on Saturday with 17 points and a season-high 15 rebounds, finishing 8-for-13 shooting with a career-high four assists and season-best totals of three blocked shots and two steals. She followed that up with her second double-double in as many days for the Lions (ninth career) in Sunday's 72-61 win over UNE with a season-high 18 points on 7-of-8 shooting, and 14 rebounds (seven offensive), two assists, two steals, and two blocked shots.

Relay of the Week – 200 Freestyle Relay, Wheaton College
 
Wheaton claimed first place in the 200-yard freestyle relay to open the Chris Fisher Invitational on November 21 at Wheaton. First year Marcus Tran (Milton, Mass.), senior Will Larson (Iowa City, Iowa), senior Gavin Cullinan (Cumming, Ga.), and senior Brian Hixson (Scituate, Mass.) combined for a winning mark of 1:23.43.
 
Swimmer of the Week – Gavin Cullinan (Sr.), Wheaton College
 
Senior Gavin Cullinan (Cumming, Ga.) racked up a team-high 56 points at the two-day Chris Fisher Invitational on November 21-22. Cullinan finished among the top three in three events, while winning two of them. He turned in a time of 51.25 to win the 100-yard butterfly after clocking a season-best 51.10 in the prelim for the event. Cullinan also topped the field in the 200-yard backstroke at 1:54.50 after a season-best mark of 1:53.66 in the prelims. He also posted a season-best mark in the 200-yard freestyle with at time of 1:42.69, before later placing third in the event for the Lyons.

Diver of the Week- Lara Baronsky (Jr.), U.S. Coast Guard Academy
 
Junior Lara Baronsky (Victory, N.Y.) picked up a win at Brandeis on the 1-meter board, scoring a 170.17.
 
Relay of the Week – 200 Yard Freestyle, Babson College
 
The quartet of Samantha Gilbert, Sophia Sznewajs, Sylvie Racicot, and Julian Netishen won the 200 free relay with a school-record time of 1:37.81 in Friday’s finals at the two-day Fisher Invitational. The time was 0.15 seconds better than the previous program record set at last February’s NEWMAC Championships. 
 
Swimmer of the Week – Garin Stone (Sr.), Wheaton College  
 
Senior Garin Stone (Barrington, R.I) tallied a team-high 60 points at the two-day Chris Fisher Invitational on November 21-22. Stone won all three events that she entered with season-best times. The Ocean State native touched first in the 100-yard freestyle with a mark of 52.38, before winning the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:55.97. She completed her sweep of the freestyle sprint events with a clip of 24.50 in the 50-yard freestyle.
