NEWMAC NCAA Weekend Preview

Men’s Basketball
 
Babson enters the NCAA Tournament after winning the NEWMAC Championship, earning an automatic bid. The Beavers are making their eighth appearance in the NCAA Tournament since 2014,  and are back in the NCAA Tournament for the fourth consecutive season (excluding 2020-21), and 13th time overall in program history.
 
Babson will travel to Oswego, New York, where they take on host Oswego State, who is ranked No. 9, in the first round on Friday, March 1.
 
 The winner of Friday's first round contest will face either No. 18 DeSales (24-3) or No. 21 Williams (21-6) on Saturday at 6 p.m.
 
Women’s Basketball
 
The NEWMAC sees two teams enter the tournament, as Smith earned the NEWMAC automatic qualifier with their fourth-straight NEWMAC title, and Springfield received an at-large bid.
 
Coming off its fourth straight New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) title with a 90-59 win over Babson on Sunday, the Smith College basketball team (25-3) was selected as a NCAA Tournament first and second round host on March 1 and 2.
 
Smith will take on Maine Maritime (23-4), the NAC Tournament champions, in Friday's first round at 7:00pm The Mariners defeated SUNY Cobleskill 78-62 to claim a second consecutive conference title. 
 
For the second time in the last three seasons, the Springfield College women's basketball program is headed back to the NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Championship Tournament. Springfield earned its second-ever at-large bid into the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament and will square off against Widener on Friday at Bates.

Widener enters the tournament with a 23-4 record and earned an automatic bid into the NCAA Championship Tournament after it knocked off top-seeded Messiah, 68-62, to win the MAC Commonwealth Championship for the first time since 2009.
Winners of the first round will move on to play on Saturday, March 2.
 
Diving
 
NCAA Diving Regionals will take place at Colby College in Waterville, Maine on Friday, March 1 through Saturday, March 2.
