WORCESTER --Â On the final day of the 2023 New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Swimming and Diving Championship, the MIT women's swimming and diving team captured its 12th straight title and 17th overall. The Engineers racked up 1,441 total points over the course of the four-day event. MIT's men's team also won a team title, marking the 12th straight year that the Engineers captured both the men's and women's championship trophies.
Finishing as runner-up was Wheaton College, who amassed 921.5 team points to take second for the fifth straight season. Springfield was third with 795.5 points followed by the U.S. Coast Guard in fourth with 593.5 and Wellesley rounding out the top five with 524.5. WPI finished sixth with 457.5 points and Babson placed seventh at 332. Mount Holyoke (275), Smith (245.5), and Clark (197) completed the final standings.Â
Up next for qualified NEWMAC student-athletes, the NCAA Division III Diving Regional will be held in New York City with NYU as host on February 24 and 25. The 2023 NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships will be held March 15-18 at the Greensboro Aquatic Center in Greensboro, NC.
