Marlborough, Mass. - September 8, 2026 - The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) has released its selection for the league's Women's Volleyball Athletes of the Week, for the week ending September 7. The first weekly award winners of the 2026 season include
Jodi Saelua (Mililani, Hawaii) of Springfield College and
Anna Feuer (Frederick, Md.) of Smith College. The NEWMAC's weekly awards program is presented by SKYBOKX109 Sports Bar & Grill in Framingham, Massachusetts.
Offensive Player of the Week - Jodi Saelua - Springfield - Senior - Mililani, Hawaii
Springfield senior middle blocker Jodi Saelua had a fantastic start to the season, helping the Pride go 3-0 in the Joel B. Dearing '79 Volleyball Classic as she led Springfield's offense registering over ten kills in each match to total 35 kills with only three errors for a .525 hitting percentage across 11 sets. She hit an errorless .632 with 12 kills in a 3-0 sweep against Westfield State to start the 2026 campaign and was later named the Dearing Classic Most Valuable Player. The middle blocker also recorded nine blocks - six of which came in the match against Skidmore.
Defensive Player of the Week - Anna Feuer - Smith College - Senior - Frederick, Maryland
Anna Feuer anchored the middle for a Smith front line that went 4-0, recording 16 total blocks in 11 sets — a 1.45 average that paced the Bears by a wide margin. Feuer accounted for 10 of Smith's 22 team blocks in the five-set win over Bridgewater State, including a solo stuff and nine assisted rejections. She also gave the Bears their most efficient attack of the week, hitting .419 with 22 kills and just four errors, capped by a nine-kill, zero-error performance on 15 swings (.600) against Hamilton while adding four more blocks.
