Marlborough, Mass. - September 14, 2026 - The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) has released its selections for the league's Women's Volleyball Athletes of the Week, for the week ending September 7. The second weekly award winners of the 2026 season include Chloe Hokenson (McLean, Va.) of Emerson College, Sophia Song (Plano, Texas) of MIT and Lauren Yoo (Los Angeles, Calif.) of Emerson College. The NEWMAC's weekly awards program is presented by SKYBOKX109 Sports Bar & Grill in Framingham, Massachusetts.

Offensive Player of the Week - Chloe Hokenson - Emerson College - Junior - McLean, Virginia

Emerson junior Chloe Hokenson recorded back-to-back triple doubles and added two additional double-doubles in leading the Lions to a 3-1 week capped by a five set triumph over No. 25 NYU on Saturday. Hokenson opened the week by filling out the box score with 11 kills and 12 assists for her second-straight double-double, adding five service aces, seven digs and four blocks in Tuesday night's 3-1 win at Endicott. She posted a .457 hitting percentage with her season-high 18 kills on 35 total attacks and just two errors in Friday night's 3-2 win over St. Thomas (Texas), with 31 assists and career-best 26 digs, two service aces and four blocks for her first triple-double of the weekend and followed it up with her second-straight triple-double (sixth career), against Montclair State on Saturday with 14 kills and a .393 hitting percentage with just three errors on 28 total attempts with 29 assists, 15 digs and two blocks. Hokenson capped the week with her third double-double of the season in Saturday's five set triumph at #25 NYU by recording 11 kills with just two errors on 29 total attacks for a .310 hitting percentage to her 26 assists, six digs and two solo blocks in the contest.

Co-Defensive Player of the Week - Sophia Song - MIT - Junior - Plano, Texas

In a 3-0 weekend that saw No. 7 MIT capture the MIT Invitational title for the third year in a row, Sophia Song totaled 43 digs, 11 assists, and four aces en route to Tournament MVP honors. She opened the tournament with 14 digs, seven assists, and an ace in a 26-24, 25-12, 23-25, 25-20 victory over Brandeis. Song posted 10 digs and two aces against Maine Maritime (25-17, 25-23, 25-19) and then produced a match-high 19 digs versus Scranton (25-22, 25-19, 27-25).

Co-Defensive Player of the Week - Lauren Yoo - Emerson College - Senior - Los Angeles, California

Emerson senior Lauren Yoo, averaged 3.58 digs per set as the Lions posted a 3-1 week that was capped by a five set triumph at No. 25 NYU. Yoo posted 15 digs, five assists and two aces in Tuesday night's 3-1 win at Endicott. She posted a double-double with a season-high 27 digs and career-best ten assists in Friday night's five set win over St. Thomas (Texas). Contributed 14 digs, eight assists and five aces against Montclair State. Capped the week with 12 digs, three assists and an ace in Saturday's five set triumph over No. 25 NYU.
