New Orleans, La. - September 29, 2026 - WPI graduate student Everett Mosher (Chester, Vt.) has been named as the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) M-F Athletic Division III National Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week.
Mosher is the first men’s cross country runner in New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) history to earn the accolade and just fourth across both genders to be named USTFCCCA Division III Cross Country Runner of the Week since the award’s inception in 2013. Mosher joins Sarah Quinn (MIT - 2014), Kaitlyn Mooney (Coast Guard - 2017) and Maeve Roach (Coast Guard - 2020) as the only award recipients in conference history.
Mosher, who recently took home his second NEWMAC Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week accolade of the fall, won the RPI Fairgrounds Showdown on Saturday, leading the No. 17 Engineers to a third-place finish in the 15-team field. The graduate student broke the 24-minute barrier for the first time, covering the 8K course in a collegiate-best and school record 23:56.5 to hold off SUNY Geneseo's Collin Brown by 1.5 seconds. Mosher's winning time improved upon the collegiate best he established one week earlier at the Cardinal Invitational by 20.2 seconds. His performance highlighted a day in which 13 Engineers established career-best marks and helped WPI finish behind only nationally ranked SUNY Geneseo and No. 8 RPI.
Mosher and the Engineers will have a couple of weeks off before returning to action on October 17 at the Connecticut College Invitational at Harkness Memorial State Park in the team’s final tune up for the NEWMAC Championships, slated for October 31 at Smith College.
