Marlborough, Mass. - September 14, 2026 - The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) has released its selections for the league's Field Hockey Athletes of the Week, for the week ending September 13. The second weekly award winners of the 2026 season include
Helen DiGiovanni (Harwich, Mass.) and
Grace Mullaney (Boxford, Mass.) both of Babson College. The NEWMAC's weekly awards program is presented by SKYBOKX109 Sports Bar & Grill in Framingham, Massachusetts.
Offensive Player of the Week - Helen DiGiovanni - Babson College - Senior - Harwich, Massachusetts
Helen DiGiovanni scored twice and provided one game-winning goal as No. 6 Babson went 2-1 while splitting a pair of games against nationally-ranked foes. The senior forwarded contributed a third-quarter goal in Tuesday’s 4-0 win over Saint Joseph’s (Maine) and then tallied the game’s only goal 2:19 into the second quarter to help the Beavers knock off No. 5 Middlebury 1-0 for their first victory in the series since 2017 on Sunday.
Defensive Player of the Week - Grace Mullaney - Babson College - Senior - Boxford, Massachusetts
Grace Mullaney was terrific in her central defensive midfielder role this past week as No. 6 Babson recorded a pair of shutout victories in three games. The Beavers held Saint Joseph’s (Maine) to just one shot in Tuesday’s 4-0 win and bounced back from a 2-0 loss to No. 7 Williams on Thursday by beating No. 5 Middlebury 1-0 for the first time since 2017 on Sunday. Mullaney helped the Green and White hold the Panthers without a shot or a penalty corner in the first half while allowing just three shots and three corners in the match, and led a penalty corner unit that successful defended 11 of their opponents’ 13 chances over all three contests.
