NEW LONDON, Conn. — No. 9 Massachusetts Institute of Technology has won the NEWMAC Men's Track & Field Championships for the 24th time in program history following Saturday's second day at the United States Coast Guard Academy.
The Engineers finished with a final score of 253 to beat runners-up Worcester Polytechnic Institute's 202. MIT has taken the team title in all but three of the conference's championship meets, one such instance being last season's runners-up finish to WPI.
The day saw two meet records set as MIT's
Luke Rupert won the 3,000-meter steeplechase and WPI's
Ethan Ramirez took the decathlon title.
