Babson Claims Third Consecutive NEWMAC Men’s Presidents Cup

MARLBOROUGH, Mass. -  For the third consecutive year, Babson College has earned the NEWMAC Men’s Presidents Cup, as announced by Executive Director Patrick B. Summers on Thursday afternoon.
 
The Beavers captured three men’s postseason championships during the 2024-25 academic year, as well as two regular season titles.
 
"At Babson, we are proud of our committed student-athletes and the many contributions they make to our campus community on the playing field and in the classroom,” said Stephen Spinelli Jr. MBA'92, PhD, president of Babson College and Chair of the NEWMAC Presidents Council. “We are grateful that our athletics program has been honored with the men’s NEWMAC Presidents Cup Award for the third consecutive year. Each member of our athletics program—from our passionate student-athletes to our dedicated training staff and coaches—plays an important role in upholding and advancing Babson’s reputation across the country and around the world. I am thankful for their leadership and the example they set for student-athletes everywhere.”
 
During the fall season, the Babson men’s soccer team was the top seed in the NEWMAC Championship and claimed the program's 11th conference crown before advancing to the NCAA Quarterfinals.
 
The men’s cross-country team posted a strong performance at the conference championship, finishing third for the fourth consecutive season.
 
The winter season brought a strong regular season finish for Babson’s men’s basketball program, finishing third while the swimming and diving team posted a fourth-place finish at the NEWMAC Swimming and Diving Championship.
 
This spring brought two postseason championships and a regular season title. The men’s lacrosse team entered the postseason tournament as the second seed and took home their programs third consecutive title. The Beavers then advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament to cap off a fantastic postseason run.
 
Men’s tennis boasted an impressive spring season earning the regular season title finishing with a perfect slate in conference play before earning the program's first NEWMAC title since 2021. The Beavers continued their postseason run advancing to the NCAA Quarterfinals for the first time in the program's history.
 
Closing out the spring highlights for the Beavers, the men’s track and field team posted a fourth place finish at the NEWMAC Track and Field Championship.
 
"To win the NEWMAC Presidents Cup for the third year in a row is a tremendous accomplishment," said Babson College Pamela P. and Brian M. Barefoot Associate Vice President for Athletics and Athletics Advancement Mike Lynch. "Our student-athletes, coaches and staff work tirelessly to make sure we are competing at the highest level and this achievement is a testament to the hard work and dedication of everyone in our department. I'm proud of the success we had this season and earning this award is a great honor."
