WESTWOOD, Mass. - The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) has released the 2023 Women’s Track and Field Major Awards and All-Conference honorees.

Coast Guard senior Michelle Kwafo was recognized as the 2023 NEWMAC Athlete of the Year after sweeping the 100-meter, 200-meter and 100-meter hurdles to earn 30 team points for the Bears. 

MIT sophomore Emily Ball earned 2023 NEWMAC Field Athlete of the Year plaudits after two first-place finishes in the javelin and discus at the NEWMAC Championship Meet. She also finished as the runner-up in hammer throw and fourth place in the shot put to earn 33 team points to help the Engineers claim the team championship. 

Coast Guard first year Allie Wildsmith was named the NEWMAC Rookie of the Year after winning the high jump to earn 10 team points for the Bears en route to a runner-up team finish. 

Coast Guard won the Coaching Staff of the Year honor after the Bears placed second in the NEWMAC Championship meet to edge out WPI. The CGA Head Coach is Ethan Brown. He is assisted by Greg Ahnrud, Ben Thuma, Ian Ashner, John Jaskot, Tim O'Loughlin and Christian Fields.
