The Lead: Three runs in the bottom of the fifth powered No. 16 MIT to a 5-1 victory over Moravian University in the first game of the NCAA Division III Softball Super Regional held in Cambridge, Massachusetts on Friday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- With two outs in the bottom of the third, junior Rylie Spiegel (Rumson, N.J.) scored from second on an infield single by first year Ava Ladd (Austin, Texas).

- A ground out to second base by sophomore Mikayla Cable (Valrico, Fla.) brought sophomore Mackenzie Bivin (San Diego, Calif.) home from third base, increasing the Engineers' lead to 2-0.

- Moravian ended the shutout in the top of the fifth. With two outs, a ground out by Mya Zettlemoyer allowed Jessica Forder to score from third.

- MIT replied with its pivotal three-run burst in the bottom half of the frame. A series of singles scored Ladd and sophomore Kennedy Adkison (San Jose, Calif.) and then a fielding error at short stop allowed Bivin to cross the plate.

- The Greyhounds threatened to rally in the top of the seventh. With two outs, Holly Walter singled up the middle and then Zettlemoyer was hit by a pitch. However, a ground out to first year pitcher Caroline Langmeyer (Upper Arlington, Ohio) ended the comeback bid.
