ROCHESTER, N.Y.—Sophomore Clifford Gaston (Welland, Ont.) and senior TJ Hendricks (Fairport, N.Y.) combined for six goals and three assists as No. 3/3 Rochester Institute of Technology defeated No. 20 Babson College, 20-9, in the third round of the NCAA Tournament on Saturday afternoon at RIT's Tiger Stadium.

With the loss, Babson had its five-game winning streak snapped and winds up an outstanding season with a 13-5 overall record. The two-time defending national champion Tigers won their 15th game in a row to improve to 20-1 and advance to a meeting with Middlebury next Saturday in the national quarterfinals.

Graduate student Will Spangenberg (Dover, Mass.) scored two goals and added two assists for the Beavers and juniors Topher Bower (Chicago, Ill.) and Christian Brofft (Pottstown, Pa.) scored twice each. Senior Chi Chi Price (Hingham, Mass.) chipped in with a goal and an assist and graduate student Ryan Kenney (Hingham, Mass.) and junior Jacob Tauss (San Marcos, Calif.) contributed one goal each. Junior Grey Sunderland (Bellevue, Wash.) won 10-of-25 face-offs and scooped up seven ground balls and senior goalie Will Parducci (Manhattan Beach, Calif) made 12 saves in the setback.

Gaston led all scorers with five points on three goals and two assists while Hendricks finished with three goals and one assist to lead a group of 13 Tigers who scored. Seniors Luke Pilcher (Oakville, Ont.) and Dylan Bruno (Wilmette, Ill.) produced two goals and one assist apiece, classmate Spencer Bell (Fairport, N.Y.) scored twice, and junior Seth Grottenthaler (Corning, N.Y.) added a goal and two assists in the win. Sophomore Carson Taylor (Brighton, Mich.) and senior Ethan Stiles (Cortland, N.Y.) combined to go 18-of-29 at the face-off X, grad student Taylor Jensen (New Westminster, B.C.) and senior Joe Camp (Walworth, N.Y.) caused three turnovers each, and graduate student Will Sterrett (Reston, Va.) made 11 saves in the victory.

RIT took control of the game with six unanswered goals in the first 15 minutes from six different scorers. Babson got on the board when Spangenberg set up Bower in the first minute of the second quarter and Tauss followed with a goal four minutes later as the Beavers attempted to get back into the game. The teams alternated goals the remaining of the quarter, with Brofft and Kenney scoring for the Green and White, as RIT took a 9-4 lead into the break.

Brofft, Spangenberg and Price all scored for the visitors in the third quarter to cut the deficit to four goals, but each time, RIT responded with its own goal to prevent any Babson momentum. The Tigers added pair of scores in the final minute of the frame to pull ahead 14-7 heading into the final 15 minutes. Bower opened the scoring in the final stanza but RIT put the game away with six goals in a seven-minute span. A final goal by Spangenberg with 6:50 remaining stopped the bleeding and rounded out the scoring.

The Tigers had a 47-28 advantage in shots and a 45-25 margin in ground balls. RIT was successful on 26-of-28 clear attempts while holding Babson to 21-of-26.
