NEWMAC Men's Soccer Weekly Report #2 - September 14

Marlborough, Mass. - September 14, 2026 - The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) has released its selections for the league's Men's Soccer Athletes of the Week, for the week ending September 13. The second weekly award winners of the 2026 season include Charlie Cushing (Eastham, Mass.) and Patrick Butler (Glastonbury, Conn.), both of Wheaton College. The NEWMAC's weekly awards program is presented by SKYBOKX109 Sports Bar & Grill in Framingham, Massachusetts.

Offensive Athlete of the Week - Charlie Cushing - Wheaton College - Junior - Eastham, Massachusetts

In four games, junior Charlie Cushing tallied six points on two goals and two assists. The midfielder assisted on Wheaton's only marker in a 1-0 win over Western Connecticut State University on September 7 before he netted the first two goals of his career with both scores in a 2-1 victory at Husson University on September 12. He capped the week by assisting on a goal in a 2-0 win over visiting Union College on September 13.

Defensive Athlete of the Week - Patrick Butler - Wheaton College - Sophomore - Glastonbury, Connecticut

In two matches this week, sophomore Patrick Butler did not allow a goal in 180 minutes of play, while stopping all 11 shots he faced. The keeper began the week by posting a 1-0 shutout on five stops against visiting Western Connecticut State University on September 7. Butler capped the week by turning away six shots in a 2-0 win over Union College to record his second shutout of the week on September 13.
