Marlborough, Mass. - September 8, 2026 - The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) has released its selection for the league's Men's Soccer Athletes of the Week, for the week ending September 7. The first weekly award winners of the 2026 season include
Connor Hanrahan (Naperville, Ill.) of Babson College and
Daniel Bede (Framingham, Mass.) of Emerson College. The NEWMAC's weekly awards program is presented by SKYBOKX109 Sports Bar & Grill in Framingham, Massachusetts.
Offensive Athlete of the Week - Connor Hanrahan - Babson College - Sophomore - Naperville, Illinois
Babson sophomore Connor Hanrahan scored in all three matches and provided one game-winning goal and a pair of game-tying markers to help the Beavers start the season 3-0. He tied the game late in the first half of a 2-1 win over Gordon last Tuesday, scored what would become the game-winning goal in a 2-1 victory over Keene State on Saturday, and then and then tied the game in the 80th minute as the Beavers scored three times in under six minutes to erase a 2-0 deficit on the way to beating Ramapo 3-2 on Sunday. This week, Hanrahan totaled three goals for six points to lead the NEWMAC in both categories.
Defensive Athlete of the Week - Daniel Bede - Emerson College - Senior - Framingham, Massachusetts
Emerson senior defenseman Daniel Bede led the Lions defensive effort that didn't surrender a goal in the run of play over three road contests in opening its season with three-straight wins for the first time since 2007 with their 3-0 week. The defense posted a 0.67 goals against average, conceding just two penalty kick goals over the 3-0 week, with a pair of shutouts. The backline limited the opposition to just 6.3 shots per match, including 2.7 per game on goal, and successfully defended four corners per match. Bede played all 270 minutes in defense for Emerson over the three matches and also netted the insurance goal in Tuesday's season-opening 2-0 win at Wentworth.
