Two All-American Finishes Highlight Day One of the NCAA Men's Swimming & Diving Championship; MIT's Grant Hu Leads the Way with 5th Place Finish

INDIANAPOLIS, IN. –Day one of the 2026 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships, hosted at the IU Natatorium, opened yesterday, highlighted by two All-American finishes. 

MIT's Grant Hu earned a First Team All-American finish in the 500 Free, with a time of 4:24.95, shaving almost two seconds off his prelim swim. Hu set a new school record, and is now a six time All-American. 

Coast Guard's Noah Reice competed in the 50 Freestyle, earning All-America honorable mention with a time of 20.26. 

MIT's 400 Medley Relay team also competed (Aitor Arrese-Igor, Thomas Wu, Bryce Roberts and Nathan Kim), and posted a preliminary time of 3:14.89 to qualify for the consolation final, but a swimmer left early in the finals. 

Day two will open tomorrow, Thursday, March 19, with prelims at 10:00 AM followed by the finals at 6:00 PM. Events tomorrow will be the 200 Free, 100 Fly, 400 IM and the 200 Free Relay.
