MIT Wins 17th Consecutive NEWMAC Men’s Swimming and Diving Crown; Program’s 20th Conference Title

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – MIT claimed the 2026 NEWMAC Men’s Swimming and Diving Championship on Sunday at the Zesiger Sports and Fitness Center Pool. The Engineers earned the program’s 17th straight and 20th overall NEWMAC title as the four-day NEWMAC Men’s Swimming and Diving Championship concluded with a revised timed finals schedule.
The host Engineers topped the team standings with 1481.5 points. Coast Guard took runner-up honors with 1013 points. WPI was third (731 points), with Babson taking fourth (692) and Wheaton finishing fifth (625). Springfield in sixth (466.5) and Clark in seventh (219).  

The NCAA will announce the swimming qualifiers on Thursday, February 26 on NCAA.com. Qualified divers will be competing at the NCAA Regionals this weekend, Friday, February 27-Saturday, February 28.  

Sunday Championship Results 
(Champion earns First Team All-Conference honors, while runner-up is Second Team All-Conference) 

200 Back: 
  • Champion: Gavin Cullinan, Wheaton (1:49.41) 
    • Notes: Cullinan was fifth in the 200 Back at the 2025 NEWMAC Championships. 
  • Runner-Up: Zack West, MIT (1:49.44) 
    • Notes: West was also second team All-Conference in the 100 Back at the meet. 
100 Free: 
  • Champion: Brian Hixson, Wheaton (44.75) 
    • Notes: Hixson finished fourth in the event at 2025 NEWMAC meet. NCAA B Cut. 
  • Runner-Up: Marcus Tran, Wheaton (44.90) 
    • Notes: Tran earned his first all-conference honor with his time, also an NCAA B Cut. 
200 Breast: 
  • Champion: Daniel Seong, MIT (2:01.71) 
    • Notes: Seong earned his first NEWMAC title, finishing ahead of three competitors from Coast Guard. 
  • Runner-Up: Blaise Minckler, Coast Guard (2:02.29) 
    • Notes: Minckler earned all-conference accolades after taking third in 2025.  
200 Fly: 
  • Champion: Noah Reice, Coast Guard (1:47.68) 
    • Notes; Reice repeated as NEWMAC Champion, going 1-2 with Jason Wang for the second straight year. 2025 Invited Time. NCAA B Cut 
  • Runner-Up: Jason Wang, MIT (1:49.40) 
    • Notes: Wang was also the NEWMAC runner-up in 2024 and 2025. Paced by Wang, MIT swept spots 2-6 in the event.  
1650 Free: 
  • Champion: Mark O’Mara, MIT (15:46.53) 
    • Notes: O’Mara earned his second all-conference honor after taking second in the 500 Free. NCAA B Cut. 
  • Runner-Up: Jay Pawloski, Coast Guard (16:16.09) 
    • Notes: Coast Guard and MIT have split all-conference honors in the event in each of the last three seasons.  
400 Free Relay: 
  • Champion: MIT (2:58.56) - Aaron Martin, Evan Wong, Bryce Roberts, Nathan Kim 
    • Notes: 2025 NCAA Invited Time. NCAA B Cut. 
  • Runner-Up: Coast Guard (2:59.55) - Noah Reice, Grant Hudson, Drew Carlson, Zach McGowen 
    • Notes: 2025 NCAA Invited Time. NCAA B Cut.
