NEWMAC Releases 2026 Men's Cross Country All-Conference Team and Major Award Winners

Marlborough, Mass. - November 4, 2026 - Following the 2026 New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Men’s Cross Country Championships on Saturday, the conference office has officially released the All-Conference teams and major awards winners capping off another exciting fall season.

At the conclusion of this year's championship meet, WPI graduate student Everett Mosher (Chester, Vt.) was recognized as the NEWMAC Men's Cross Country Runner of the Year for finishing in first place overall. He became the first men's cross country runner at WPI to obtain the honor and first non-MIT student-athlete since Anthony Salvucci of Springfield College in 2012 to win the individual championship. Including Mosher and Salvucci, since 1998, there have only been six non-MIT student-athletes to cross the finish line first at the NEWMAC Men's Cross Country Championships.

Earlier ths season, Mosher ran a career-best 8-kilometer time of 23:56.5 when he won the RPI Fairgrounds Showdown. At the conclusion of that meet he was recognized as the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) National Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week, becoming the first in school history to earn the award.

In addition to being named as the NEWMAC Men's Cross Country Runner of the Year, Mosher also took home the NEWMAC Men's Cross Country Laurels of Academic Excellence Award for the second consecutive season. Mosher, a graduate student at WPI, sports a 4.00 grade point average majoring in civil engineering. The Laurels of Academic Excellence Award is given to the student-athlete with the highest GPA, who finishes in the top-40 at the Men's Cross Country Championships. He is the first two-time recipient of the award in NEWMAC history.

Babson College's Luca Masolo (Portland, Ore.), who finished ninth overall in a time of 25:12.5 on Saturday, has been recognized as the NEWMAC Men's Cross Country Rookie of the Year for being the top first-year finisher at the championship meet. Masolo was one of three Beavers to earn NEWMAC All-Conference accolades this fall and led Babson to a third place finish in the team standings. Babson, which recorded its lowest team score (66) in program history at the NEWMAC meet, has now placed third at the conference championships six consecutive years dating back to 2021.

This fall, WPI head coach Brian Chabot and his staff of Kyle Gerlach, Ameila Kokernak and Rachel Hurley earned NEWMAC Men's Cross Country Coaching Staff of the Year after leading WPI to a runner-up finish as a team for the 12th consecutive year dating back to the 2014 meet. This is the first time Chabot and his staff have garnered Men's Cross Country Coaching Staff of the Year honors. He was previously recognized in 2017 and 2018 as the NEWMAC Women's Cross Country Coach of the Year.
