Junior linebacker Wyatt Alford helped seal MIT's 21-14 victory over Maritime with a pair of big defensive plays in the fourth quarter. With the game tied at 14-14 and Maritime driving into MIT territory early in the fourth quarter, an Engineers' sack at their own 18-yard line knocked the ball free from Maritime quarterback Jaden Rotella before it was recovered by Alford and returned to the MIT 40. That play set up MIT's go-ahead score at 8:13 of the fourth. With MIT now leading 21-14, the ball returned to Martime and the visitors moved down the field again before eventually facing fourth and goal with the game on the line. Alford came up big for MIT again, sacking Rotella on MIT's final defensive play of the game to force a turnover on downs. Alford finished the contest with eight tackles, including three solo tackles and a tackle for loss to go along with the sack and the fumble recovery.
