NEWMAC Announces Athlete of the Week Honorees (week ending January 18)

Marlborough, Mass.- The NEWMAC has announced its Athlete of the Week honorees for the week ending 1/18/26, presented by SKYBOKX 109 Bar & Grill in Natick, Massachusetts. The full list of honorees can be found below.
 
Men's Basketball
 
Offensive Athlete of the Week- Aliaun Iscandari (Fy., G), Clark University
 
First year Aliaun Iscandari (Hawthorne, Calif.) averaged 23.7 points, 4.7 steals, 3.7 assists, and 3.7 rebounds in three games played as the Cougars posted a pair of NEWMAC wins this week. The first-year netted a career-high 33 points, eight steals, six assists, and five rebounds in an 83-75 victory over Coast Guard on Tuesday night. He added 18 points, three assists, and three rebounds in an 83-62 road win against Emerson. In a road contest at Wheaton, Iscandari scored 20 points, four steals, and three rebounds on Saturday afternoon.
 
Defensive Athlete of the Week- Timmy O'Toole (Sr., F), Babson College
 
Senior Timmy O'Toole (Milton, Mass.) averaged 14.0 rebounds, 3.0 steals, and 2.3 blocks as Babson held three opponents to just 57.7 points in a 3-0 week. He grabbed a career-high 20 rebounds to go along with three blocks and three steals in Tuesday's 69-66 OT win at Springfield, finished with seven boards, four steals and two blocks in a 73-55 triumph over Wheaton on Thursday, and capped the week with a double-double that included 15 rebounds to go along with two steals and one blocked shot to help the Beavers defeat Emerson, 61-52. 
 
Women's Basketball
 
Offensive Athlete of the Week- Bri Frongillo (Sr., G), Emerson College   
 
Senior Bri Frongillo (Hopedale, Mass.) led the Lions to a 2-0 week with 18.5 points per game on 48.1-percent shooting, including 4-for-9 (44.4%) from three-point range, converting all seven free-throw attempts for the week. She also contributed 4.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists, and 1.0 steals in 39.5 minutes per game. Frongillo paced Emerson to Saturday's 73-62 win over Salve Regina in the NEWMAC opener with a game-high 27 points on 9-of-20 shooting, converting all seven free throws and adding seven rebounds and four assists. She rounded out the Lions in double figures in Monday's 58-56 win at Worcester State with ten points on 4-of-7 shooting, canning both three-point attempts, with four assists and two steals.
 
Defensive Athlete of the Week- Rylie Rosenberg (So., G), Babson College
 
Sophomore Rylie Rosenberg (New Rochelle, N.Y.) recorded six steals and 10 rebounds to help Babson split a pair of games last week. The sophomore guard finished with career highs of four steals and seven boards in Tuesday's 61-55 loss to No. 23 Trinity and followed it up with two more steals to help the Beavers edge Springfield 64-63 in their conference opener on Saturday. 
 
Men's Swimming & Diving
 
Diver of the Week – Christian Butler (Jr.), Springfield College
 
Junior Christian Butler (North Haven, Conn.) recorded NCAA regional qualifying scores with a sweep in both disciplines as he notched a 295.73 on the 3-meter board and a 296.77 on the 1-meter board.
 
Relay of the Week – 200 Medley Relay, Springfield College
 
In their dual meet with Middlebury on Saturday, the Pride began the meet with a first-place time of 1:35.91 in the 200-medley relay as Matt Quinney, Viet-Anh Nguyen, Dawson Milligan, and Dan Backlund combined for the victory, edging out the Panthers A relay by less than a second.
 
Swimmer of the Week – Grant Hu (So.), MIT
 
Sophomore Grant Hu (Allen, Texas) won the 200 IM while finishing second in the 200 back and fifth in the 100 Back in the No. 7 MIT men's swimming and diving meet against Division I Boston University. Hu won the 200 IM in 1:48.44, which is currently the sixth-fastest time in Division III. He swam to a second-place finish in a B-cut time of 1:48.35 in the 200 back, currently ranking 18th in DIII. His 100 back time of 49.74 is a new personal best.
 
Women's Swimming & Diving
 
Diver of the Week- Katherine Welsh (Sr.), Smith College
 
Senior Katherine Welsh (St. Paul, Minn.) swept both diving events at the Wellesley Invite this past weekend to lead the Bears to a runner-up finish. Welsh won the 1-meter with a score of 438.65 and the 3-meter with 434.60 points, both NCAA regional qualifying scores.
 
Relay of the Week – 200 Yard Medley, Wellesley College
 
Wellesley's 200 Medley Relay team of seniors Tracey Liu, Kavita Sekhon, and first-years Lucy Choe and Alexis Kung teamed up to earn a commanding first-place finish at the Wellesley Invitational. The quartet finished at 1:44.86, within one second of recording an NCAA "B" cut.
 
Swimmer of the Week – Sydney Smith (Jr.), MIT
 
Junior Sydney Smith (Atlanta, Ga.) earned a win in the 100 back and finished second in the 100 Fly in the No. 5 MIT women's swimming and diving meet against Division I Boston University. Smith was also a member of two relay teams, the 200 Medley Relay, which captured second, and the 200 Free, which finished first. In the 100 back, Smith swam a 55.07, which is the eighth-fastest time in Division III this season. In the 100 fly, she posted a time of 54.77, which is the fourth-best time in the nation this season.
