COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—Babson College first-year goalkeeper
Madison Tibbals (Gorham, Maine) was selected as the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division III Defensive Player of the Week on Wednesday morning.
Tibbals, who earned her first career NEWMAC Defensive Player of the Week honor on Monday, posted a 0.93 goals against average and an .818 save percentage by stopping nine of 11 shots in a pair of wins last week. She turned away seven shots, which included three in the overtime session, to help the Beavers edge No. 7 Tufts 2-1 on Wednesday and followed it up with a pair of stops as Babson downed Wellesley 5-1 for its 43rd straight conference victory.
Tibbals has started the last six games for the Green and White and owns a 1.44 goals against average and a .791 save percentage to go along with one shutout. She has allowed one goal or fewer and has helped Babson record three one-goal wins over nationally-ranked squads.
Tibbals is the Beavers' second NFHCA Player of the Week selection of the season, joining sophomore
Penny Baroni (Dennis, Mass.), who garnered offensive honors back on September 3.
