Salve Regina Secures Top Seed in NEWMAC Baseball Championship

MARLBOROUGH, Mass. - The NEWMAC has released the 2025 Baseball Championship bracket after the championship field was secured this afternoon. The 2025 Baseball Championship field consists of six teams, featuring two single elimination play-in games, followed by a four-team double elimination tournament. The Championship will begin on Wednesday, May 7.

Salve Regina University (13-3) earned the top seed and is led offensively by Grady Schopps and Wil McCarthy, who are batting .455 and .442, respectively. On the mound, Brayden Clark tops the NEWMAC with eight wins and is second with a 2.00 ERA. Salve will move straight to the double-elimination round on Friday and will host through Saturday.

U.S. Coast Guard Academy (12-4) grabs the second seed and will also move straight through to the double-elimination round, earning the right to host on Friday. The Bears will look to Carson Cho to make an impact, as he heads into the postseason with a .397 batting average, which increased to 4.37 in league play. Pitcher Jackson Dorsey is top in the NEWMAC with a 1.43 ERA.

MIT (11-5) received the No. 3 seed and will host a single-elimination game against No. 6 Babson College (8-8). MIT pitcher Mason Estrada has a 2.20 ERA, allowing opponents to hit only .153 this season, which leads the NEWMAC, while Babson’s Zander Teator is fourth in the league with a .400 batting average. The winner will advance to play No. 2 Coast Guard.
 
Clark University (9-7) nabs the four seed by virtue of the tiebreak over Wheaton College (9-7), giving the Cougars the right to host a single-elimination game against Wheaton. Clark’s Carter Doran is hitting .386 entering the postseason. Wheaton’s Timmy Wagner leads the Lyons with a .409 batting average. The winner will move on to Friday to play top-seeded Salve Regina.

Tickets for NEWMAC championship events can be purchased through the NEWMAC box office. The NEWMAC encourages fans to purchase their mobile tickets in advance of the event to streamline the entry process on game day. Spectators may purchase mobile tickets on site, but no cash option will be available. Ticket prices are $10 for general admission. Children 12 and under and NEWMAC students with a valid institutional ID are free and do not need to purchase a mobile ticket. Once a matchup is confirmed following each round of the championship the tickets will become available.

All rounds of the NEWMAC Baseball Championship will be available for streaming on FloSports. Semifinal and final action will be produced by NEWMAC partner Northeast Sports Network.
