NEWMAC Recognizes 2025 Men's Track & Field Major Awards and All-Conference Teams

Marlborough, Mass.- Following the 2025 NEWMAC Men’s Track and Field Championship on April 26, the NEWMAC released its major awards and all-conference teams. The Men’s Track and Field All-Conference Team consists of a first team and a second team, which was determined by student-athlete finish at the event, with first place performance earning first time all-conference honors, and second place finishes earning second team all-conference accolades. The Track Athlete, Field Athlete, Rookie and Coaching Staff of the Year were voted on by the six head coaches following the NEWMAC Championship.  
 
Track Athlete of the Meet- Ian Naff, U.S. Coast Guard Academy
 
Ian Naff scored 25 points for the men's team, winning both the 200- and 400-meter races and anchoring the men's 4x100 relay to 4th place. In his first event, Naff anchored a school record 4x100 relay of 42.30. Then, he set a NEWMAC, facility, and school record performance of 47.82 in the 400 meters. To finish off the meet, he won the 200-meter dash claiming his second title of the meet.
 
Field Athlete of the Meet- Ethan Anderson, WPI
 
Ethan Anderson turned in a great performance across three events at the 2025 NEWMAC Track & Field Championships, earning the title of discus champion while also placing third in both the hammer throw and shot put. Anderson’s winning mark in the discus led a sweep of the podium by WPI and capped a weekend where he scored 22 total points to serve as the highest individual field-event point total of the meet, which was won by the Crimson and Gray for the second time and first since 2021. 
 
Rookie of the Meet- Scott Sloan, Wheaton College
 
Scott Sloan became the first javelin thrower in school history to win the gold medal, while setting a new conference, school and facility record in the event. Currently, he sits fourth in NCAA Division III after throwing 66.53m.
 
Coaching Staff of the Year- WPI
 
The WPI men's track and field team won its second NEWMAC title, and and first since 2021, finishing with 241 points at the 2025 NEWMAC Outdoor Track and Field Championship. The coaching staff is led by head coach Emily Dippel, along with Director of Track & FIeld Brian Chabot. The staff also includes assistants Kyle Gerlach, Andrew Swallow, Taylor Browning, Liz Matticoli, Amelia Kokernak and Matthew Lacadie.
