NEWMAC Releases 2025 Baseball Postseason Awards

MARLBOROUGH, Mass. – The NEWMAC has released its 2025 baseball postseason awards, as announced by the conference on Wednesday morning. The awards are determined by the conference's nine coaches following the conclusion of regular season play.

Infielder Timmy Wagner (Hingham, Mass.) of Wheaton College was voted NEWMAC Player of the Year. Salve Regina University's Brayden Clark (Beverly, Mass.) was named Pitcher of the Year and teammate Brandon Grover (Ashland, Mass.) was voted the Defensive Player of the Year. MIT’s John Spivey (Saint Louis, Mo.) was named the Rookie of the Year. The MIT coaching staff was voted Coaching Staff of the Year by their peers.

Wagner headlines the first team infielder selections and is joined by MIT’s Reed Tubbs (Pflugerville, Texas) and Zev Moore (Jerusalem, Israel), as well as U.S. Coast Guard Academy’s Richard Barkley (Bellevue, Wash.). Spivey is featured in the outfield slot along with Carter Doran (Natick, Mass.) of Clark University and Carson Cho (Haymarket, Va.) of Coast Guard. Zander Teator (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) of Babson College and Andrew Cash (Marlboro, Mass.) of WPI were the first team utility selections. Clark leads the first team pitchers, and is joined by teammate Kyle Carozza (Fairfield, Conn.), MIT’s Mason Estrada (Covington, La.), and Coast Guard's Vito Giordano (Scarsdale, N.Y.). Coast Guard's Parker Madden (Ruston, La.) rounds out the first team as a catcher.
 
Babson’s Brant Savage (Charlton, Mass.), Clark’s Dom Mariani (Walpole, Mass.), Coast Guard’s Nathan Stafford (Jupiter, Fla.) and Wheaton’s Casey Wensley (Raynham, Mass.) were the second team infield selections. MIT's Teddy Schoenfeld (Boulder, Colo.) is an outfield selection, along with Salve Regina’s Evan O'Rourke (Arlington, Mass.) and WPI’s Tommy Burns (Morris Plains, N.J.). Salve Regina's Hunter Yaworski (Brooklyn, Conn.) was awarded a spot as a utility player. Babson’s Jason Finkelstein (Walpole, Mass.), Clark’s Tommy Flaherty (London, England), Salve Regina’s Nolan Romanowski (Wynantskill, N.Y.), and Coast Guard’s Jackson Dorsey (Newark, Dele.) were the second team pitcher selections. Clark’s Anthony LoCasto (New Rochelle, N.Y.) and Salve Regina’s Shea Donovan (Milton, Mass.) wrap up the selections as catchers.

Player of the Year- Timmy Wagner (Sr., INF), Wheaton College

Wagner hit .398 on the year, which increased to .407 in league play, good for second in the league among those above 50 at-bats. His 68 hits were good for second in the league, along with his on-base percentage of .495. Wagner’s OPS of 1.121 was good for fourth in the NEWMAC. He led the league with 73 RBI and was walked a league-leading 30 times.

Pitcher of the Year – Brayden Clark (Gr., P), Salve Regina University

Brayden Clark led the league with 74.1 innings pitched, 104 strikeouts, and nine wins. His ERA of 1.94 was good for third in the league. In league play, Clark nabbed four wins, second in the league, and compiled a league leading 46 strikeouts. Clark helped the Seahawks to a 13-3 league record, the regular season crown, and was the NEWMAC Championship Most Outstanding Player as Salve won the NEWMAC title.
 
Defensive Player of the Year – Brandon Grover (Gr., OF), Salve Regina University
 
Grover showed off impressive range in the outfield all season, taking away hits and home runs from opponents. Grover did not make an error all season, compiling 54 putouts on the season.

Rookie of the Year – John Spivey (Fy., OF), MIT
 
John Spivey led the NEWMAC in runs scored (23), RBI (23) and total bases (47) in conference play. He has put together a .379 average with a 1.152 OPS in conference games, hitting six home runs, all good for top-ten in the NEWMAC. Overall, he has hit .317 in 161 at-bats, recording 46 hits and 39 runs scored while hitting 11 doubles and nine home runs in his rookie season.

Coaching Staff of the Year – MIT

MIT improved to 11-5 in conference play this season, after going 7-9 last year. The Engineers earned the No. 3 seed in the NEWMAC tournament, and reached the Championship game.  MIT is under the direction of head coach Andy Barlow, assistants Jack Hawke, Teddy Downing, Geoff Phillips and pitching coach Todd Carroll.
