MARLBOROUGH, Mass. - With the completion of the regular season this evening, the NEWMAC has released the 2025 Women's Lacrosse Championship Bracket. The championship tournament will consist of seven teams that will compete for the NEWMAC crown, with games beginning on Saturday, April 26th.
With a perfect 10-0 conference record, Babson has locked up the top seed. Babson has been led offensively by
Clare Connolly, who is third in the league with 44 goals, while also leading the NEWMAC with 13.13 draw controls per game. Goalkeeper
Kathleen Murphy is second in the NEWMAC with a 5.24 save percentage. Babson earns a first-round bye to the semifinals next Wednesday.
The second seed goes to MIT (9-1), who is led by
Annica Lam’s 58 goals, which is tied for first in the league, while
Ashley Thomas leads the league in assists with 54. The Engineers will host No. 7 Salve Regina University (4-6) on Saturday, April 26. The Seahawks are led offensively by
Edie Threshie’s 34 goals.
Springfield College (8-2) nabbed the third seed. Defensively, goalkeeper
Kate Laico is third in the league with a 7.35 goals against average. The Pride will host the No. 6 seeded Wheaton College, who finished league-play with a 5-5 record. Wheaton is led by
Lara Finnie, who has totaled 40 points this season. The two teams will meet up on Saturday, April 26.
In the final first round match-up, No. 4 Coast Guard (7-3) will host No. 5 Smith (6-4). The Bears will look to
Caitlyn Coates to be an impact player in the tournament, as she is fourth in the league with 42 goals. Smith boasts the league-leader in goals in
Kyra Hawk, who has totaled 58 goals this season. The winner of this game will face Babson in a semifinal showdown on Wednesday, April 30 while the two winners of the other first round matchups will square off in the second semifinal.
The winners of each semifinal game will then meet in the championship game on Saturday, May 3rd at the site of the highest remaining seed.
