MIT Secures Top Seed in 2025 NEWMAC Women's Volleyball Championship

MARLBOROUGH, Mass. – With the conclusion of the 2025 women's volleyball regular season on Saturday afternoon, the NEWMAC has released the 2025 NEWMAC Volleyball Championship bracket. The NEWMAC Volleyball Championship consists of eight teams competing for the crown, with the quarterfinals beginning on Tuesday, November 11.

With an undefeated conference run, MIT (11-0) secured the top seed in the championship tournament. The Engineers, currently ranked No. 8 in the latest NCAA NPI rankings, are led by Kayleigh May’s 10.94 assists per game. The Engineers will host No. 8 Wellesley College (4-7), whose Kaija Kunze-Hoeg is sixth in the league with 3.73 digs per set.

Babson College (10-1) takes the second seed and is led defensively by Alisa Munro’s 0.98 blocks per game. The Beavers will host No. 7 Mount Holyoke College (5-6), whose Elle Rimando leads the conference with 4.05 kills per set.

Springfield College (9-2) earns the third seed. The Pride offense runs through Tori Colosimo, who is third in the league with 8.70 assists per set. Springfield will host No. 6 Emerson College (6-5), whose Sophia Schiappa has been a force in the serve game, leading the NEWMAC with 0.66 service aces per set.

With a tiebreaker over U.S. Coast Guard Academy (7-4), Smith College (7-4) has also earned the right to host a quarterfinal match-up. Smith's Mia Etheridge is fifth in the league with 3.16 kills per set, while Coast Guard’s Laila Baameur leads the conference with 6.28 digs per set.

On Saturday, November 15, the quarterfinal winners will meet up at the highest remaining seed for two semifinal matches. The semifinal winners will then compete for the NEWMAC title on Sunday, November 16th. 

Tickets for NEWMAC championship events can be purchased through the NEWMAC box office. The NEWMAC encourages fans to purchase their mobile tickets in advance of the event to streamline the entry process on game day. Spectators may purchase mobile tickets on site, but no cash option will be available. Ticket prices are $10 for general admission. Children 12 and under and NEWMAC students with a valid institutional ID are free and do not need to purchase a mobile ticket. Once a matchup is confirmed following each round of the championship, the tickets will become available.

All rounds of the NEWMAC Volleyball Championship will be available for streaming on FloSports.
