MIT Sweeps Region 2 Major Awards; 15 Named All-Region as AVCA Announces All-Region Awards

MIT swept the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Region 2 major awards, as Kayleigh May was named Player of the Year, Ella Zhou was named Freshman of the Year, and Paul Dill was named Coach of the Year.

A setter, May leads all of NCAA Division III with 11.05 assists per set and has compiled over 1000 assists so far this season. May also contributed 2.29 digs per set, to go along with 0.52 blocks per set, as the Engineers won the 2025 NEWMAC Championship. She was named the NEWMAC Athlete of the Year for her efforts. 

Zhou made an immediate impact for the Engineers, averaging 3.22 kills per set, 0.54 service aces per set, and 3.88 points per set, and was also voted the NEWMAC Rookie of the Year.

Paul Dill led the Engineers to an 11-0 conference record and a 27-3 overall record, capturing the NEWMAC Championship. The Engineers are currently ranked No. 6 in the latest NCAA NPI rankings and will host the upcoming NCAA Regionals. 

May and Zhou were also named to the All-Region first team, along with 10 additional NEWMAC student-athletes. Three from the NEWMAC earned honorable mention accolades. In total, 15 of the 20 All-Region 2 slots went to NEWMAC student-athletes. MIT tied for first in the nation with five first-team All-Region players, followed by Babson College with four.
