WPI's John Adams Named CSC Men's Basketball First Team Academic All-American

WORCESTER --- WPI Men's Basketball senior John Adams (Douglas, Mass.) was selected to the NCAA Division III Men's Basketball Academic All-America First Team as voted on by College Sports Communicators. 
 
Adams returns to the Academic All-America Team for the second consecutive year with his first selection to the first team in 2024. 
 
The senior forward was named the 2023-2024 NEWMAC Men's Basketball Player of the Year as he led the Crimson and Gray in scoring and rebounding at 14.5 points and 11.3 boards per game en route to earning first team recognition from the conference for the third-straight season after starting all 26 contests for the WPI this past season. The scoring and rebounding outburst by Adams led the league and ranked 13th overall in NCAA Division III in boards as the senior power forward compiled 15 double doubles this season to lead the NEWMAC and tie for 14th in Division III. 
 
Additionally, Adams was named to the NABC Division III All-District team and Region 2 First Team from D3hoops.com before earning All-America status on the third team as announced in March. 
 
In the classroom, the mechanical engineering major sports a 3.88 cumulative grade-point average and earned Academic All-Conference recognition for the third time following the 2023-2024 campaign. 
 
The NEWMAC Men's Basketball Player of the Year is one of seven student-athletes to return as repeat selections on the Academic All-America Division III men's basketball teams.
