WESTWOOD, Mass – After winning their 26th-straight NEWMAC title at the 2024 NEWMAC Men's Cross Country Championships, the MIT coaching staff earned the honor of 2024 NEWMAC Men's Cross Country Coaching Staff of the Year. The Engineers recorded a winning score of 25 points with nine finishers in the top 12 in the race. The Engineers have claimed all 26 conference titles in the 27-year history of the NEWMAC. MIT’s
Sam Coutts (Pacific Grove, Calif.) was named NEWMAC Athlete of the Year after clocking in a time of 24:32.4 to win the 8K race at Nehoiden Golf Course. MIT’s
Renne Cooper (Austin, Texas) was tabbed Rookie of the Year, as he finished seventh in the race, first amongst rookies, with a time of 25:09.3.
In addition, the top 14 finishers at the NEWMAC Championship earned All-Conference honors.
