WESTWOOD, Mass. – With the conclusion of the 2024 women's soccer regular season on Saturday afternoon, the NEWMAC has released the 2024 NEWMAC Women's Soccer Championship bracket. The tournament will consist of eight teams that will compete for the crown, which will begin on Tuesday, November 5 with the quarterfinal round.

Defending NEWMAC champions MIT (11-0) secured the top seed in the championship tournament and will host the eighth seeded Coast Guard (2-5-4) on Tuesday. The Engineers' Natalie Barnouw leads the league with 10 goals, while Coast Guard goalkeeper Emily Scharnitzky is second in the league with four shutouts in NEWMAC play.

With a win over Smith College (6-3-2) on the final day of play, Springfield College (6-3-2) emerged as the second seed, winning the tiebreak over the third seeded Smith. The Pride will host seventh seeded WPI (5-4-2) on Tuesday. Springfield boasts the NEWMAC's second leading scorer in Mia Salmon, who has eight goals. WPI's Maeve Steckley is right behind Salmon with six goals of her own.
No. 3 Smith will host No. 6 Emerson College (5-4-2). The Pioneer's goalkeeper Skylar Smith leads the league with seven shutouts, while Emerson net minder Amara Schaub is tied for second in the league with six.

The final semifinal match-up is between the fourth-seeded Babson College (5-3-3) and the fifth seeded Wheaton College (4-2-5). Babson is led offensively by Elisa Diletzia's six goals. Wheaton, who secured the five seed in a tiebreak over Emerson and WPI, is anchored in the net by Patricia Bandrup, who has the league's best goals against average at .737.

On Thursday, November 7, the winner of the No. 5 Wheaton and No. 4 Babson matchup will take on the winner of the No. 1 MIT and No. 8 Coast Guard battle, while the winner of No. 3 Smith and No. 6 Emerson will advance to play the winner of No. 2 Springfield and No. 7 WPI.

The semifinal winners will then compete for the NEWMAC title on Saturday, November 9th. 

Tickets for NEWMAC championship events can be purchased through the NEWMAC box office. The NEWMAC encourages fans to purchase their mobile tickets in advance of the event to streamline the entry process on game day. Spectators may purchase mobile tickets on site, but no cash option will be available. Ticket prices are $10 for general admission. Children under 12 and NEWMAC students with a valid institutional ID are free and do not need to purchase a mobile ticket. Once a matchup is confirmed following each round of the championship the tickets will become available.

All rounds of the NEWMAC Women's Soccer Championship will be available for streaming on FloSports. Semifinal and final action will be produced by NEWMAC partner Northeast Sports Network.
