NEWMAC Welcomes Jake Desautels as the Administration, Branding and Communications Intern

The NEWMAC is excited to welcome Jake Desautels to the staff as the Administration, Branding and Communications Intern. In this position, Desautels will have an opportunity to work in sports governance, championships, and strategic communications. A senior at NEWMAC member institution Springfield College, Desautels is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Sport Management and minoring in Sports Analytics.

The senior has served as athletics event staff at Springfield since 2021. As part of his duties, he helps set up and manage on-campus athletic events. He was also an athletics department intern for Springfield in 2022. In this role, he organized signage and tickets for events, and documented information such as referee contracts, season schedules and field schedules.

Outside of Springfield, Desautels served as a gameday operations intern for the Western Mass Pioneers over the summer, for which he ensured stadium grounds and soccer pitch were in proper condition prior to games. He also oversaw set-up and operation of on-site ticket booth, merchandise stand, and livestreams.

Desautels is looking forward to getting started in his new role. "I’m excited to apply all of the skills and experience I’ve gained from my time at Springfield College, and I’m very grateful and proud for the opportunity to be part of a well-respected athletics conference like the NEWMAC.”

For his part, NEWMAC Executive Director, Patrick B. Summers, is eager to work and collaborate with Desautels in his new role. “His energy and enthusiasm is already felt by our staff. Springfield College prepares their students so well to make an immediate impact wherever they go,” said Summers. “The hope is that we can give Jake as many experiences as possible to prepare him for where he lands after graduating this Spring.”

Desautels began his new position on January 16, and will continue through the Spring semester.
