WESTWOOD, Mass. - The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) has released the 2023 Baseball Major Awards and All-Conference honorees. Wheaton had a conference-leading four First Team selections, as well as took home three of the four major awards.
Wheaton senior Cavan Brady was named the 2023 NEWMAC Baseball Athlete of the Year after posting a .451 batting average, eight doubles, three home runs and 31 RBI. His 32 hits ranked second in the league and his 1.153 OPS ranked fourth in the NEWMAC.
Wheaton sophomore Ryan McCarroll earned the title of 2023 NEWMAC Baseball Pitcher of the Year after compiling a 5-0 record, 1.45 earned run average and 33 strikeouts in 31 innings pitched in league play.
Coast Guard first-year pitcher Raymond Priddy earned 2023 NEWMAC Baseball Rookie of the Year plaudits after compiling a 1-1 record, three saves, 4.70 earned run average and 16 strikeouts in 23 innings pitched.
Wheaton collected the 2023 NEWMAC Baseball Coaching Staff of the Year crown. Head Coach Eric Podbelski guided the Lyons to their 17th NEWMAC Tournament Championship under his tenure and a 16-1 record in league play this season. Patrick Santorella, Eric Dumas, Pete Pasquarosa and Matt Milano rounded out Podbelski’s coaching staff.
Voted on by the eight head coaches, the Baseball All-Conference Team consists of a First Team and a Second Team with 12 honorees on each team, listed below.
