Louisville, Ky. (April 9) - After being named as the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Softball Pitcher of the Week on Monday, MIT senior Ravenne Nasser (Methuen, Mass.) becomes the first student-athlete in program history and second in the conference to be named as the Louisville Slugger/National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division III National Pitcher of the Week.

Nasser joins Ama Biney of WPI and Hayley Feindel of Coast Guard to earn national recognition from the NFCA as Biney was named as the Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division III National Player of the Week back on March 16, 2016 and Feindel was named as the Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division III National Pitcher of the Week back on March 17, 2011.

Nasser made history this week for the nationally-ranked MIT softball team as she tossed two consecutive no-hitters in a doubleheader against Clark on Saturday. Over the course of the week, Nasser went 4-0, pitched three complete game shutouts, struck out 35 batters and allowed just three earned runs. Then on Saturday, Nasser tossed 14 no hit innings and struck out 17 in the doubleheader against Clark to improve to 8-3 this spring.

Nasser's no-hitters this weekend were the first and second of her collegiate career and the sixth and seventh in program history. Not only did Nasser get it done in the circle, but she tallied four RBI, two of which ended the game against Wheaton on Tuesday and one of which accounted for the game winning run in Saturday's nightcap against the Cougars.

In 70 innings in the circle this season, Nasser is 8-3 with an ERA of 1.90 and 69 strikeouts. The senior currently leads the NEWMAC in strikeouts, is third in ERA and third in wins.

No. 13 MIT (15-5, 9-1 NEWMAC) returns to action on Friday, April 12 with a trip to Wellesley College for a NEWMAC doubleheader beginning at 3:00 pm.
