MIT's Gilson, Reduker, and 4x400-Meter Relay Garner Men's Track and Field Weekly Honors

NEWMAC Men's Track Athlete of the Week

Aidan Gilson, MIT (Sr., Distance – Florence, Mass.)

In the 3,000-meter steeplechase, Gilson dominated from the start and won by a 22-second margin in a time of 9:14.65. That time currently ranks him first in the NEWMAC and sixth in the country. In addition, he also ran the second leg of the victorious 4x400 relay team that ranks first in the NEWMAC, along with a fourth-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles as that time of 59.88 is ranked sixth in the NEWMAC.

NEWMAC Men's Field Athlete of the Week

Alec Reduker, MIT (Jr., Jumps – Newburyport, Mass.)

At the MIT Quad Meet, Reduker won the high jump with a school-record height of seven feet, 0.25 inches that has him tied for the top jump in the nation. In addition, he finished second in the long jump at 22 feet, 9.75 inches and is 16th nationally and second in the NEWMAC in that event.

NEWMAC Men's Relay of the Week

4x400-Meter Relay, MIT (Duchatellier, Gilson, Slaney, Wilson)

At the MIT Quad Meet this weekend, the 4x400 relay team of Nick Duchatellier, Aidan Gilson, Kent Slaney and Benton Wilson (pictured) won the event with a NEWMAC-best time of 3:24.43. MIT was just off the lead for much of the race before Wilson chased down the Tufts anchor coming off the final turn for the victory.
