INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Three New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) baseball programs have been selected to compete in the 2019 NCAA Division III Baseball Championship Tournament. The NEWMAC Champion MIT earned the automatic qualifier, while Wheaton and Babson earned at-large bids.
MIT Baseball To Open NCAA Tournament vs. Oswego State on Friday
Indianapolis, Ind. (May 13) -- After capturing the NEWMAC Championship last week with an 8-2 win over No. 6 ranked Babson College, the MIT baseball team earned the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament. This marks the program's sixth trip to the NCAA Tournament as the Engineers will open up play on Friday vs. Oswego State. The regional will be hosted by the University of Southern Maine.
Wheaton Baseball Earns At-Large Bid to NCAA Tournament; Faces St. Joseph's of Maine in Opening Round
NORTON, Mass. - The Wheaton College Baseball team, ranked No. 21 in the latest d3baseball.com national poll, has earned one of 18 at-large bids in a field of 58 teams competing in the 2019 NCAA Division III Baseball Tournament. Wheaton last appeared in the national tournament in 2017 when they won the Mid-Atlantic Regional and advanced to the national championship round.
No. 6/6 Babson Baseball Receives At-Large Bid, Will Face Keystone in NCAA Tournament Opener on Friday
BABSON PARK, Mass.—No. 6/6 Babson College will make its third straight NCAA Division III Tournament appearance after receiving one of 18 at-large bids when the 58-team field was announced on Monday afternoon. The Beavers will face Keystone College on Friday at Trinity College in Hartford, Conn., at either 11 a.m. or 2:30 p.m.
