Babson Chosen To Finish First in Baseball Preseason Coaches' Poll

WESTWOOD, Mass. - The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) is looking forward to another outstanding season for the league's eight baseball teams, as the NEWMAC revealed the 2019 Baseball Preseason Coaches' Poll.

Babson, the reigning NEWMAC Champion, was chosen to finish first with seven first place votes after an outstanding 2018 season that boasted 35 wins and the title of NCAA Tournament regional finalist. After an appearance in the NEWMAC title game last season, Wheaton earned the No. 2 slot with one first place vote. Springfield comes in at the No. 3 spot, followed by No. 4 MIT and No. 5 Clark. Rounding out the final three spots are No. 6 WPI, No. 7 Coast Guard, and No. 8 Emerson.

The NEWMAC welcomes back 10 All-Conference honorees, highlighted by Wheaton's Nick Raposo, who collected Second Team All-America and All-Region accolades for his efforts in 2018. The 2018 Pitcher of the Year and All-Region selection returns to the diamond in Springfield's Shawn Babineau, along with fellow teammate and All-Region honoree Chad Shade. Babson's Michael Genaro and Brian McHale earned All-Region accolades last season, along with WPI's Ryan Tropeano. The 2018 Rookie of the Year returns in Wheaton's Gavin Reily.
