  • MIT's Johnston Named as Google Cloud Third Team Academic All-American

    AUSTIN, Texas (June 5) -- MIT sophomore outfielder Matt Johnston (Portola Valley, Calif.) has been named to the 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-America Third Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). This program honors the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.

    WESTFORD, Mass. - This week the ABCA and announced their annual All-America honors. Wheaton's Nick Rapaso was named to both ACBA/Rawlings and Second Team All-America while Babson's Ryan Arena earned Third Team All-America honors.

    YORK, Pa.—Sophomore Sean Harrington (Walpole, Mass.) scored the go-ahead run in the top of the 10th inning as No. 21 Collegiate Baseball/No. 23 rallied to defeat Union College, 5-4, in a winner’s bracket contest at the NCAA Tournament York Regional inside PeoplesBank Park late Friday night.

    BEL AIR, Md.—Senior Mark Webber (Norwell, Mass.) drove in junior Brian McHale (Ramsey, N.J.) with a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the ninth to lift No. 21 Collegiate Baseball/No. 23 Babson College to a 12-11 win over Catholic University in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament York Regional on Thursday night. 
  • Babson Seeded Second in York (Pa.) Regional, Will Face Catholic in NCAA Tournament Opener

    BABSON PARK, Mass.—After capturing its second consecutive New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Tournament championship last Sunday, Babson College earned the second seed in the York (Pa.) Regional when the 2018 NCAA Division III Baseball Tournament field was announced overnight.
  • NEWMAC Releases 2018 Baseball Postseason Honors

    WESTWOOD, Mass. - The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) announced the 2018 Baseball Postseason Awards on Wednesday morning. After sitting atop the leagues leaderboard in RBI's and homeruns, Ryan Arena has been named the Athlete of the Year. With his 1.18 ERA in league play, good for No. 1 on the leaderboard, Springfield's Shawn Babineau was named the Pitcher of the Year. Also earning major honors is Wheaton's Gavin Reily who holds the second best overall ERA at 1.31 while his conference numbers put him in the top three during his rookie campaign.

    BABSON PARK, Mass.—Junior Eric Jaun (Loveland, Ohio) had four hits and drove in three runs, while classmate Connor Gill (Sterling, Mass.) added three hits and scored three times as Babson College defeated Wheaton College, 11-5, in the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Tournament final on Sunday afternoon at Govoni Field. 
  • Babson and Wheaton Move on in NEWMAC Championship After Day Three

    BABSON PARK, Mass— Babson College hosted Day Three of the 2018 NEWMAC Baseball Championship on Saturday. Babson earned one victory to advance to the finals while Wheaton went 1-1 and knocked out Clark. The Beavers and the Lyons will square off tomorrow to determine the 2018 NEWMAC Champion.

    BABSON PARK, Mass.—Junior Brian McHale (Ramsey, N.J.) homered and drove in three runs, while classmate Connor Gill (Sterling, Mass.) struck out six in a complete-game effort as top-seeded Babson College defeated fourth-seeded MIT, 7-3, in its New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Tournament opener on Friday afternoon at Govoni Field. 
  • MIT Advances in NEWMAC Championship With 5-0 Win Over Springfield

    The Lead: Led by seven shutout innings from MIT starting pitcher Zachary Kopstein (Tiburon, Calif.), the No. 4 seeded Engineers defeated fifth-seeded Springfield College by a 5-0 final in the play-in game of the NEWMAC Tournament.

    Alex played the final game of his career needing five hits to reach the 100 hit milestone. Harris allowed just one hit over five innings to get the win as the Bears defeated Emerson in the final game of the regular season.

Claiming the top seed with their 14-3 record and East Division title is Babson who will host a game on Friday and then Saturday.

    WESTWOOD, Mass. – The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) is pleased to announce the 2018 Baseball Academic All-Conference Team. The NEWMAC baseball student-athletes totaled 56 honorees this year.
  • Babson's Oliger and Genaro Sweep NEWMAC Weekly Awards

    Oliger batted .455 (10-for-22) and had a .536 on-base percentage to go along with two doubles, nine RBI and four multi-hit games in six starts last week. Genaro made two starts and went 2-0 with a 1.20 ERA, 17 strikeouts and just two walks in 15.0 innings pitched.
  • Coast Guard's Lhotka and Babson's Floegel Claim NEWMAC Weekly Awards

    Lhotka had an impressive week for the Bears hitting .571 (12-21) with a .667 OBP and .762 slugging percentage. Floegel tossed the first complete-game shutout of his career to help Babson defeat MIT, 6-0, in the opening game of a doubleheader on Saturday.
  • Babson's Arena and MIT's Greenwood Earn NEWMAC Weekly Honors

    Arena recorded three multi-hit games and batted .533 (8-for-15) boasting a .632 OBP and 1.133 slugging, with three doubles, two home runs, nine RBI and seven runs scored in a 4-0 week for Babson. In his start against Emerson on Saturday, Greenwood went seven innings and allowed just one hit with 11 strikeouts in an 11-1 victory over the Lions.
  • Babson's Harrington and WPI's D'Agostino Garner NEWMAC Weekly Awards

    In four starts Harrington batted .556 (5-for-9) and posted a .647 on-base percentage to go along with two home runs, five walks, 10 RBI. D'Agostino did not allow an earned run on three hits and one walk, and struck out a career-high 11 batters.
  • MIT's Greenwood and Springfield's Babineau Claim NEWMAC Weekly Honors

    In a 2-1 week that included a NEWMAC sweep of WPI in the league opener, Greenwood hit .429 with a .467 on-base percentage and a .786 slugging percentage. Shawn Babineau, a sophomore pitcher for Springfield College, earned his second win of the season on Saturday in a 4-0 victory over Emerson as he pitched a complete game, holding the Lions to just three hits while matching his career high for the second time this year with 10 strikeouts.
  • Coast Guard's Pressley and Springfield's Babineau Claim NEWMAC Weekly Honors

    Pressley was on fire last week as he hit .846 going 11 for 13 at the plate leading the Bears to a perfect 3-0 record in Ft. Myers. Shawn Babineau, a sophomore pitcher for Springfield College, had an impressive outing in an 8-0 victory over Farmingdale State as he pitched a complete-game one hitter, while totaling a career-best 10 strikeouts, including fanning eight of the first nine batters of the game.
  • WPI's Larson and Wheaton's Larason Tab NEWMAC Weekly Honors

    Larson batted .355 with 15 RBI, 10 extra base hits, 10 runs scored, and five home runs while producing a .939 fielding percentage in addition to claiming a win on the mound during the Engineers first week of action.
  • MIT's Rolland and Babson's McHale, Gill Earn NEWMAC Weekly Awards

    In three games at No. 15 Trinity (Tex.), Rolland made his career debut with eight hits, five RBI and two runs scored as he had multiple hits in all three games. McHale has a great overall week for the Beavers as he was solid in fielding with a .964 fielding percentage on 28 chances with just one error. Gill was superb in his first start of the year tossing seven shutout innings to help Babson defeat Otterbein, 4-0, on opening day.
  • NEWMAC Reveals 2018 Baseball Preseason Coaches' Poll, Babson Tabbed as Favorites

    WESTWOOD, Mass. - The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) announced the 2018 Baseball Preseason Coaches' Poll on Thursday afternoon. After an impressive NEWMAC Championship run in 2017, claiming the programs first title since 2009, Babson has been tabbed as the preseason favorites with five first place votes. Voting for the preseason poll is conducted by the eight baseball coaches.
