MARLBOROUGH, Mass. – With the conclusion of the regular season this afternoon, the NEWMAC has released the seeds for the 2026 Men's Tennis Championship bracket. The men's tennis tournament consists of five teams competing for the NEWMAC Championship, beginning on Wednesday, April 22nd, with the opening round.
Babson College, currently ranked No. 15 by the International Tennis Association (ITA), secured the top seed with an undefeated 7-0 league record.
Alexander Merson is regionally ranked in singles play and is in consideration for a doubles ranking along with partner
Maxim Zlobinsky. As the No. 1 seed, Babson has secured a first-round bye and will host the semifinal and the final match.
MIT, ranked No. 32 by the ITA, finished at 6-1 to claim the second seed. MIT has seen strong play from first-year
Hunter Liao. The Engineers will host a semifinal on Friday at 3:00 p.m. against third-seeded Springfield College. Springfield finished 5-2 to claim the No. 3 seed, with first-year
Austin Prendiville being named the most recent NEWMAC Singles Player of the Week.
Rounding out the final two spots is Clark University (4-3) as the No. 4 seed and Emerson College (3-4) as the No. 5 seed. Emerson is making the program's first NEWMAC postseason appearance behind the play of
Filippo Nocchi, who has been NEWMAC Singles Player of the Week twice and earned a doubles honor with partner
Connor Leung. Emerson will travel to Clark for a first-round tilt on Wednesday, April 22nd, at 3:00 p.m. Clark's
Edward Shepherd-Johnson has earned NEWMAC Singles Player of the Week once this season, as well as a doubles honor alongside
Graham Russo. The winner of the first-round match will then travel to top-seeded Babson for a semifinal matchup on Friday at 2:00 p.m.
The semifinal winners will advance to the title match on Sunday, April 26
th, at Babson.
