CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Bolstered by a victory in 3-Meter Diving, Springfield College leads after day one of the NEWMAC Men’s Swimming and Diving Championship, hosted by MIT at the Zesiger Sports and Fitness Center Pool.
Springfield owns the top spot in the team standings with 105 points. Babson is second with 91 points. Host MIT in third with 89 points thanks to a victory in the weekend’s first swimming event, the 800 Free Relay.
WPI is in fourth with 87 points, Coast Guard is fifth with 70 points, Wheaton is sixth with 52 points, and Clark is currently seventh with 32 points.
Competition will resume tomorrow, Friday, February 20, at the Zesiger Center Pool with prelims at 10:00 AM followed by the finals at 6:00 PM. Tomorrow’s events will include the 200 Free Relay, 500 Free, 200 IM, 50 Free, and the 400 Medley Relay.

Men 3-Meter Diving:
- Champion: Christian Butler, Springfield (530.47)
- Notes: Butler has won the past three NEWMAC 3-Meter titles. NCAA qualifying score.
- Runner-Up: David Krol, Babson (514.92)
- Notes: Krol was also the NEWMAC runner-up in 2025. NCAA qualifying score.
Men 800 Yard Freestyle Relay
- Champion: MIT (6:37.74) - Evan Wong, Gidean Karp, Grant Hu, Nathan Kim
- Notes: Hu and Karp repeated as an All-Conference honorees in the event. NCAA B Cut.
- Runner-Up: Babson (6:43.84) - Anthony Taslakov, William Iglar, Evan Hong, Tommy Hannenian
- Notes: The Beavers were third in the 800 Free Relay in both 2024 and 2025.
