Marlborough, Mass. - November 7, 2026 - The 2026 New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) women’s volleyball regular season has been completed and the eight team NEWMAC Championship Tournament field has been set.
Babson won the 2026 NEWMAC Women’s Volleyball Regular Season title outright for the first time in program history. Previously the Beavers have shared the conference’s regular season title in 2014, 2019 and 2021. Babson completed the 2026 regular season with a conference record of 10-1 after today’s regular season finale four set win over Springfield marking the second straight season of 10 NEWMAC wins, the most in program history.
Babson will matchup with eighth seeded Wellesley College, which completed the 2026 season with a NEWMAC record of 4-7. During the regular season, the two sides met in Babson Park with the homesteading Beavers coming away with a four set win, 25-14, 23-25, 25-14, 25-17. The Blue are making their second straight conference tournament appearance.
After a three way tie and using the conference’s tie breaking principles, MIT came away with the two seed, Emerson College earned the three seed and Smith College earned the fourth seed. All three programs ended the regular season at 9-2 in league play. MIT will match up with seventh-seeded WPI, Emerson will host sixth-seeded Coast Guard and Smith will host fifth-seeded Springfield all on Tuesday in the quarterfinal round.
During the regular season, MIT swept WPI (25-17, 25-20, 25-13), Emerson defeated Coast Guard in five (25-20, 25-19, 21-25, 16-25, 15-10) and Smith defeated Springfield in four (27-25, 25-21, 20-25, 31-29).
The advancing teams out of Tuesday’s quarterfinal round will head to the site of the highest remaining seed for the NEWMAC semifinals on Saturday. A champion will be crowned on Sunday, November 15 at the semifinal site. The winner will receive the NEWMAC's automatic berth to the 2026 NCAA Division III Women’s Volleyball National Championship Tournament.
MIT has claimed four of the last five NEWMAC titles, while Babson has not won a conference championship since the 2019 season.
