NEWMAC Announces Athlete of the Week Honorees (week ending November 16)

Marlborough, Mass.- The NEWMAC has announced its Athlete of the Week honorees for the week ending 11/16/25, presented by SKYBOKX 109.  The full list of honorees can be found below.
 
Men's Basketball
 
Offensive Athlete of the Week- Timmy Mulvey (So., G), Babson College
 
Sophomore Timmy Mulvey (Reading, Mass.) averaged 16.5 points on 68.8 percent shooting, was 9-of-13 (69.2 percent) from beyond the arc, and dished out 3.5 assists to help Babson stay unbeaten with a pair of wins. The sophomore guard scored 11 points and handed out two assists in Tuesday's 82-78 victory at Albertus Magnus and followed it up with a season-high 22 points on 8-of-11 shooting, which included a career-best six three-pointers, and five assists in Friday's 83-79 triumph over No. 4 Tufts. 
 
Defensive Athlete of the Week- Guillermo Gasset Ruiz (Jr., G), Emerson College
 
Junior Guillermo Gasset Ruiz (Malaga, Spain) averaged 2.3 steals and 2.0 blocks per game with 6.0 rebounds over three games for the Lions last week. Emerson held its opponents to 35.4 percent shooting from three for the week, and Gasset Ruiz also contributed 5.0 points per game on 7-of-10 shooting for the week. He capped the week with two blocks and two steals against Connecticut College on Sunday. He chipped in seven points, making all three shots he took, including a three-pointer, with six rebounds, four assists, three steals, and two blocked shots in Friday's win over WestConn. Earlier in the week, Gasset Ruiz collected a team-high nine rebounds, with seven assists, six points, two steals, and two blocked shots in Tuesday's season-opener against Salem State.
 
Women's Basketball
 
Offensive Athlete of the Week- Jessie Silk (So., G), Emerson College  
 
Sophomore Jessie Silk (Newton, Mass.) averaged a double-double of 21.3 points and 13.0 rebounds per game over a 2-1 week for the Lions, adding 2.7 assists and 1.7 steals per game. Silk connected on 7-of-11 three-pointers (63.6%) and made 21-of-28 (75%) free throws for the week. She earned All-Tournament team honors at Wesleyan's Courtyard by Marriott Classic where she averaged 23.0 points, 15.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.0 steals per game over the Lions' two games at the Classic, shooting a combined 73.7% (14-19) from the free-throw line and connecting on 6-of-8 (75%) three-pointers for the weekend. She posted her second double-double of the season (fourth career) in Saturday night's win over Albertus Magnus with 14 points and a career-high 18 rebounds (seven offensive), with five assists and a steal. Capped the week with her second double-double of the weekend and third of the season overall (fifth career) against Wesleyan on Sunday with a career and game-high 32 points, burying all six three-pointers, with a game-best 13 rebounds, three steals, and two assists. Silk paced Emerson's four double-figure scorers in Monday's win over Endicott with 18 points, aided by a 7-for-9 effort at the free-throw line, and eight rebounds in 22 minutes.
 
Defensive Athlete of the Week- Sofia Neary (Sr., F), Salve Regina University
 
Senior Sofia Neary (Wayne, N.J.) totaled seven blocked shots and five steals on the week, while averaging a double-double of 13.6 rebounds and 14.0 points. Neary was named to the Hamilton Tip-Off Classic All-Tournament Team after being the high scorer in the weekend event for the Seahawks. In Saturday's win against St. John Fisher, the senior captain's first three points in the first quarter had her reach the 1,000-point milestone (18th player in program history). Neary posted double-doubles in Clinton, New York, with 30 points and 15 rebounds against the hosts before 22 points and 17 boards versus the Cardinals.
 
Football
 
Offensive Athlete of the Week- Bubba Mustain (So., QB), U.S. Merchant Marine Academy
 
Sophomore Bubba Mustain (Oro Valley, Ariz). accounted for five of the Mariners' touchdowns on Saturday in their dramatic 39-38 Secretaries' Cup victory over Coast Guard at Fenway Park. The sophomore carried the ball an astonishing 46 times for 274 yards with three TDs on the ground, including the go-ahead score with just 20 seconds remaining, while also completing 6-of-8 passes for 150 yards with two touchdowns in the air on passes of 44 and 58 yards (both in the first half). He was 4-for-4 on fourth-down conversions throughout the game, three coming with his feet and the other on the 58-yard TD pass.
 
Defensive Athlete of the Week- Tyler Sordillo (Jr., DL), Springfield College
 
Junior Tyler Sordillo (Hull, Mass.) anchored Springfield's defense with 2.5 sacks, 3.0 tackles for a loss, four total tackles, and four QB hurries in the Pride's 23-7 win over Maritime. Now with 11.5 sacks on the season, Sordillo and the Pride held their opponent to seven or fewer points in four of seven NEWMAC contests this fall. 
 
Men's Swimming & Diving
 
Diver of the Week – David Krol (Jr.), Babson College
 
Junior David Krol (Grafton, Wis.) made his season debut on Saturday night with a six-dive score of 259.60 points to win the 1-meter event in the Beavers' victory over Bentley. 
 
Relay of the Week – 200 Medley Relay, Babson College
 
Babson's 200-yard medley relay team of Thomas Ambelang, Mattias McFarlane, Nehemiah Rhee, and Zachary Cheung finished first by more than two seconds with a time of 1:35.22 in the opening event of Saturday's dual-meet victory over Bentley. 
 
Swimmer of the Week – Nehemiah Rhee (So.), Babson College
 
Sophomore Nehemiah Rhee (Paramus, N.J.) put together a terrific meet on Saturday night against Bentley, winning a pair of individual events and helping Babson to two more first-place finishes in the relays. He won the 200 butterfly with a time of 1:55.05 and the 100 butterfly in 51.38 and was a part of victories in the 200-medley relay to start the meet and the 400 free relay to cap the Beavers' win over the Falcons. 
 
Women's Swimming & Diving
 
Diver of the Week- Katherine Welsh (Sr.), Smith College
 
Senior Katherine Welsh (Saint Paul, Minn.) continues her outstanding season with two more wins for the Smith swim and dive team. In the Bears' win over Westfield State, Welsh posted NCAA qualifying scores on both the 1-meter (287.95) and 3-meter (289.45). Smith's seventh win of the year clinches a winning dual meet record for the first time since the 2013-14 season.
 
Relay of the Week – 200 Yard Medley, Wellesley College
 
The 200-yard medley relay team of Tracey Liu, Kavita Sekhon, Alexis Kung, and Lucy Choe topped Coast Guard Academy on Friday night, taking first with a 1:47.59 showing.
 
Swimmer of the Week – Kavita Sekhon (Sr.), Wellesley College  
 
Senior Kavita Sekhon (Los Angeles, Calif.) shone against Coast Guard Academy on Friday evening. The senior won the 100 breaststroke (1:05.64) and 200 Breaststroke (2:27.09) races, bettering season-best times in both events.
