WESTWOOD, Mass. - The NEWMAC is excited to announce the Rowing 25-Year All-NEWMAC Team, in recognition of the historic 25th Anniversary season. A total of 18 student-athletes have been recognized, as announced by the conference office on Friday. The honored team was voted on by the membership.
A total of six institutions were represented on the team, with Wellesley leading the way with seven honorees. Next was WPI with five, followed by Smith and Coast Guard with two selections each. Mount Holyoke and Clark rounded out the team with one selection a piece.
The team features six Rower of the Year honorees, one of which was a multi-year recipient. Additionally, there were four Coxswain of the Year selections honored, also with one multi-year recipient. Combined, the group earned a total of 33 first team All-NEWMAC nods. There are eight All-American performers within the group.
Wellesley’s
Tessa Spillane was voted as the top coach from the past 25 years. Spillane has been at the helm for the Blue since the 2005-2006 season. In 2016, she guided the Blue to the first NCAA Division III National Championship in school and program history. Spillane would repeat the feat in 2022 and 2023, with the Blue winning their second and third NCAA Division III National Championships. Spillane has won 11 NEWMAC titles and has been named NEWMAC Coach of the Year eight times. She is also a three-time Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association Division III National Coach of the Year and two-time NIRC Coach of the Year.

The rowing 25-Year All-NEWMAC Team was voted on by current rowing coaches and sports information directors at the conference's seven member institutions. Voters were asked to rank student-athletes and were not allowed to vote for members or coaches from their own institution. To be eligible for the 25th anniversary team, student-athletes must have been recognized on the NEWMAC First-Team All-Conference team at least twice, and/or earned Player of the Year honors. Coaches must have coached in the NEWMAC for a minimum of 10 seasons.

About the NEWMAC
