NEWMAC Releases 2022 Men's Soccer Postseason Awards
Westwood, Mass. - As the NEWMAC Men's Soccer wrapped up with Babson College earning its third-straight conference title, the conference has announced its Postseason Awards for the 2022 season.
Ben Williams of Babson and Alasdair Ferrier of Wheaton shared the Athlete of the Year honors. Williams led the Beavers to another conference title and was atop the NEWMAC in goals, points, and game-winning goals. Ferrier proved to be the Lyons' top offensive weapon as the sophormore totaled four goals and an assist in conference play.
Liam Hanlon from Babson was selected as the Defensive Athlete of the Year in the conference as the senior anchored a defensive unit that only conceded two scores during the NEWMAC schedule. The Beavers defense with the help of Hanlon turned in five shutouts this season.
The Rookie of the Year honors went to Cade Mallet from Emerson. Mallet was impressive in his first season with the Lions as the center back helped the team to a 0.88 GAA in conference. Additionally, the Emerson College staff was named Coaching Staff of the Year after making an appearance in the NEWMAC title game for the first time in school history.
