In his first collegiate start, the sophomore quarterback completed 41-of-55 passes for 433 yards and five touchdowns. He is the first Cardinal to throw for 400 yards since TJ Tutone had 400 in a 40-36 win over Washington & Lee on Nov. 8, 2014. Lowe is also the first to throw five touchdowns in a game since Tutone had five against Guilford on Oct. 31, 2015. Lowe completed a pass to 12 different receivers and was sacked just once. NEWMAC Football Co-Offensive Athlete of the Week Ian Blankenship, Merchant Marine (Sr., QB – McRae, Ga.) The senior quarterback found the end zone a total of five times on the ground in the Mariners' season-opening 49-27 road victory over FDU-Florham on Friday. Blankenship finished the night with a game-high 119 rushing yards on 28 carries. His five rushing TDs are the most in a game for a Merchant Marine student-athlete in at least the last 12 seasons. NEWMAC Football Defensive Athlete of the Week Paul Calvetti, MIT (Sr., LB – Ridgewood, N.J.) In a 41-7 season-opening win over Curry, the senior linebacker led MIT with 13 total tackles that included eight solo stops. Calvetti also forced a fumble and recovered it during a second half that saw the Engineers hold Curry scoreless, en route to the victory. NEWMAC Football Special Teams Athlete of the Week Finnegan Hall, Coast Guard (Jr., K/P – Martinsbury, W.Va.) The junior played a big part in the Bears' season opening shutout of UNE as he punted nine times for a 40.2 yard average as the Bears won the field position battle in a game that was 6-0 until the fourth quarter. Hall had five of his nine punts inside the 10 (three at the 10, one at the seven and one at the one).
