The sophomore completed 82.4 percent of his pass attempts Saturday to help Norwich win its third-straight Maple Sap Bucket, going 14-of-17 for 336 yards passing and four touchdowns. The touchdown passes were distributed to four different receivers against a Castleton defense that had yet to give up any points going into Saturday's matchup. He completed a 56-yard touchdown throw to Trevor Chase in the third quarter to put the Cadets up 21-6 before ultimately downing Castleton 28-12. NEWMAC Football Defensive Athlete of the Week Gage Hurlbut, Catholic (Jr., DB – Hilton Head, S.C.) The junior had seven tackles, including six solo tackles, one interception with a 16-yard return, and one pass breakup as Catholic rallied for a 32-29 victory over Endicott Saturday. Hurlbut's defensive effort helped the Cardinals win their fourth game out of the last six overall and third-straight at home dating back to the 2019 season with Saturday's game featuring six lead changes. NEWMAC Football Special Teams Athlete of the Week Talsen Smith, Merchant Marine (Fy., WR – Roseville, Calif.) The first-year returned a punt 80-yards for a touchdown in the third quarter of the Mariners' 56-7 road win over rival SUNY Maritime on Saturday. It was his second touchdown of the day, as he also hauled in a 43-yard pass for the Mariners' second score of the day early in the second quarter. He also tallied one kick return for nine yards.
