NEWMAC Highlights Women's Cross Country Postseason Awards, Wellesley's Jennings Named Coach of the Year
WESTWOOD, Mass. - After leading the Wellesley women's cross country team to a runner-up finish at the 2021 New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championships, Head Coach Phil Jennings was honored as the 2021 NEWMAC Women's Cross Country Coach of the Year. This is the second nod for Jennings.
The Blue finished in second place with 63 points and had four runners earn All-Conference honors. Jennings also coached the 2021 NEWMAC Runner of the Year in Ari Marks.
MIT won the 2021 NEWMAC title with 34 points, while Smith came in third with 79 points.
Wellesley's Marks earned the Runner of the Year crown with a top performance of 21:48.9. Smith's Pria Parker collected the honor of Rookie of the Year with a seventh place finish of 22:57.6 as the top finish by a first-year.
On Saturday, the 2021 NEWMAC Women's Cross Country All-Conference Team was announced with 17 student-athletes garnering the honor from five institutions.
