The senior had 280 yards of total offense for the Mariners in their 49-14 road win over arch-rival Coast Guard in the Secretaries' Cup game on ESPN3 this past Saturday. The quarterback threw for 126 yards on 5-of-9 passing with two touchdowns, while also leading all players in the game with 154 rushing yards on 30 carries. NEWMAC Football Defensive Athlete of the Week Mark Montano, Springfield (Sr., SS – North Haven, Conn.) The senior was sensational in the secondary for Springfield, as the Pride captured the NEWMAC Championship with a 28-14 win over Catholic on Saturday. Montano posted seven tackles, including four solo stops, had a critical pass break-up in the end zone on fourth and goal, and then sealed the victory with a diving interception on one of Catholic's final drives. NEWMAC Football Special Teams Athlete of the Week Mark Wright, MIT (Sr., K – Fort Worth, Texas) In a 38-10 home Senior Night win over WPI, the senior accounted for eight points as he converted a 32-yard field goal attempt in his only try and was a perfect 5-for-5 in extra-point opportunities in his final game in the Cardinal and Gray.
