The senior was dominant in fueling Springfield's offense in the Pride's 28-23 win over Merchant Marine on Saturday. The fullback carried the ball 22 times for 108 yards as he averaged nearly five yards to per carry. He also scored a pair of touchdowns for Springfield as the Pride improved to 4-0 in NEWMAC play this season. NEWMAC Football Defensive Athlete of the Week Kyle Niehr, Springfield (Sr., DB – Bay Shore, N.Y.) The senior was tremendous on the defensive side of the ball in Springfield's 28-23 win over Merchant Marine on Saturday. In helping hand the Mariners their first loss of the season, Niehr delivered nine tackles, including eight solo stops, forced a fumble, and also produced an interception on the game's final play to seal the victory. NEWMAC Football Special Teams Athlete of the Week Patrick Tuohy, Springfield (Sr., P – Columbia, Conn.) The senior highlighted Springfield's special teams efforts in Saturday's 28-23 triumph over Merchant Marine. The senior averaged 47.7 yards per punt as his three punts totaled 143 yards in distance. With under two minutes to play, Tuohy unleashed a 59-yard boot that pinned the Mariners inside their own 20, as their final drive started from their 17-yard line before ultimately ending in a Springfield interception.
