The senior captain amassed 143 yards rushing on just seven carries (20.4 yards per carry) with two touchdowns in Merchant Marine's exciting 31-28 home victory over WPI on Saturday. Strong found the end zone on a three-yard run in the first quarter and then a huge 80-yard gallup in the third on the Mariners' first play of a drive that put USMMA ahead again right after a WPI touchdown had given the visitors a lead. NEWMAC Football Co-Offensive Athlete of the Week Trevor Chase, Norwich (Jr., WR – Eliot, Maine) The junior powered the Cadets to a victory Saturday, with eight catches for 155 yards, averaging 19.4 yards per catch, and two touchdowns, including a 78-yard touchdown reception to start the second half on their way to a 24-21 victory against Coast Guard. NEWMAC Football Defensive Athlete of the Week Jeremy Henault, Norwich (Fy., DB – Goffstown, N.H.) The first-year cornerback led the Cadets in tackles, with five tackles, including one in the backfield for a four-yard loss, as Norwich moved to 1-0 in conference play. Henault also grabbed two interceptions on the day while adding another pass breakup, in the Cadets' victory over rival Coast Guard for the "Mug". NEWMAC Football Special Teams Athlete of the Week Jackson Tinkis, Merchant Marine (Fy., K – Bossier City, La.) The first-year, who hasn't missed a point after touchdown yet this season (20-for-20) was perfect once again (4-for-4) and connected on his first career field goal attempt from 27 yards in the Mariners' exciting 31-28 home victory over WPI on Saturday. Tinkis also averaged 55.0 yards on six kickoffs (330 yards total) with one touchback.
