NEWMAC Announces 2018-19 Women's Swimming and Diving Postseason Accolades

2018-19 Women's Swimming and Diving All-Conference

WESTWOOD, Mass. - The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) announced the 2018-19 Women's Swimming and Diving Postseason accolades, along with the All-Sportsmanship Team honors on Thursday.

Wheaton's Barrett Roberts was named the Swimming Coach of the Year, after leading the Lyons to a second-place finish and coaching the Swimmer of the Year in Lydia DaCorte. Roberts led the way to three All-Conference relays and four individual All-Conference awards.

MIT's Brad Snodgrass earned Diving Coach of the Year, after outstanding performances from MIT's divers. The Engineers swept the three-meter dive and took home first and second place on the one-meter dive.

Named during the final ceremony of the 2018-19 NEWMAC Championship, Wheaton's DaCorte and MIT's Deborah Wen, Laura Rosado garnered major awards.

DaCorte finished first in three individual events, taking the top spot in the 500 free (4:53.52), 400 IM (4:26.78), and 1650 free (16:58.20). The Swimmer of the Year broke the meet record in the 500 free and registered NCAA 'IN' times in all three events. DaCorte was also a member of three All-Conference relays.

Wen earned the title of Diver of the Year after sweeping both boards to earn All-Conference honors and posted NCAA Division III Northeast-North Diving Regional qualifying scores. On the 1-meter board, she tallied a score of 520.65, before finishing off the meet with a score of 525.05 on the 3-meter board.

Rosado posted top times in two individual events with NCAA 'B' cut times, touching the wall first in the 100-back (56.64) and the 200-back (2:00.99), en route to being named Rookie of the Year. The first-year was also a member of the winning 400-free relay (3:28.08) to earn All-Conference honors.

Also being recognized are the 10 women's swimming and diving student-athletes that were named to the All-Sportsmanship Team. The award is intended to recognize one student-athlete from each team, in every sport that best demonstrates the ideals of the NEWMAC and its Code of Conduct, regardless of his/her overall performance or statistics for the season.
